Barbara (Blodgett) Vannier wrote these stories in 2010, as part of a larger project
to write her memoirs. These stories cover the early part of her life and provide a view
of what life was like growing up on a grape farm on the outskirts of Fredonia, NY
in the 1920's and 30's.

Connections

Barbara (Blodgett) Vannier also wrote this story about the recent discovery of a close link
between the immigrant ancestors of her mother's family (the Stones) and her father's
family (the Blodgetts).

Katie's Memories of Homemade Ice Cream

Katie (Pierce) Putnam wrote me this story in response to a short tale I sent out as
an email about visiting the site of Luther Leroy Pierce's house on Bear Lake.

Stories of My Father's Experiences (Forrest Blodgett)

Alan Blodgett wrote these stories about his father Forrest Milo Blodgett.
Forrest is the son of Silas Bird Blodgett and Clara (Pierce) Blodgett.

Mother's Watermelon Pickles

Alan also wrote this story about his mother, Elsa Irene (James) Blodgett
Elsa is the daughter of Otis James and Ella (Twitchell) James.

Personal Profiles

These rememberances of notable members of our extended family delve a little deeper
and provide a more detailed look at the lives of some of our relatives. These are people
that some of us knew well and miss dearly, who led lives that are well worth remembering.
And if we did not have the good fortune to know them, they are well worth hearing about,
for it is people such as these that make our family so interesting.

Aunt Abbie

Abbie is the wife of Warren Blodgett whose parents are Abram and Jesse (Pierce) Blodgett.
and the daughter of James Madison Stone and Clara Belle (Hall) Stone.

Luther's Accomplishments

Luther is the son of Boyd Blodgett and Julia (Stone) Blodgett and
the granddaughter of Abram Blodgett and Jesse (Pierce) Blodgett.

H.O. Blodgett and Son

Harry Orange Blodgett is the husband of Mabel (Walden) Blodgett
and the son of William Henry Harrison Blodgett and Lucina (Cornwell) Blodgett.

We're fortunate to have these profiles written by authors who have firsthand knowledge
of the lives and an understanding of the personality and character of these ancestors.
This gives these profiles a depth and color that just isn't possible without this knowledge.
With help from other Blodgett and Pierce family members, we hope to be able to add
many more profiles to this collection.
As you can see, we are in need of many more profiles of family members.
Take a little time and write a short piece about your parents, grandparents
or uncle and aunt. Do your part to help preserve their memory and our history.
