These photos show Edwin and LeMira (Chapman) Blodgett around 1915.
Edwin amd LeMira lived and worked the farm previously owned by Edwin's father Abram Stocking,
about 4 miles north of Stockton, NY and 2 miles east of Bear Lake, NY.
LeMira was from South Dayton, Cattaragus County, NY.
They are both buried at the Turk Cemetery, above Bear Lake, NY.
Their family suffered a great tragedy in June 1894, when two of their children, Olive and
Florence, were stuck and killed by lightning during an electrical storm, while inside their house.
Their sister Bernice (age 16), also struck, was badly burned, her limbs turning black and swollen.
Their mother LeMira and baby Mabel, though in the same room, were unhurt. This tragedy is
recorded in the Dunkirk Evening Observer (June 27, 1894 - page 4, column 3).
Olive and Florence were also buried at Turk Cemetery, Bear Lake, NY.
