Information regarding Preserved Pearce is limited. We do know that he was born, raised,
and lived his life in Prudence Island, Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Preserved may seem like
an unusual name now, but it was fairly common at that time.

Preserved married Hannah Spicer in the early 1700's (sometime before 1712). Hannah was born
in Warwick, RI. to Peter and Mary (Busecot) Spicer. Her father's grandparents, John and Margaret
(Atkins) Spicer, came to america from Devon, England in the 1630's. They resided in Newport,
Portsmouth, RI; Gravesend, Long Island, NY; and Virginia before eventually returning to England.
While in Virginia they had a son Peter Spicer 1st (Hanna's father). Peter stayed on in america and
married Mary Busecot, whose parents Peter Busecot Sr and Mary May, also immigrated to America
from Devon, England in the middle 1630's. Peter and Mary (May) Busecot settled in Warwick, RI
(just across the bay from Prudence Island) where Mary (Busecot) Spicer (Hanna's mother) was
born and raised.

Their Children

Preserved and Hannah Pearce had at least two children, Nathaniel (our ancestor) and Thomas.
Although we have no records of other children, this may well only reflect our current lack
of information regarding this generation.
