Blodgett-Pierce Family - Family Charts

Ancestral Fan Chart - The Ancestors of Boyd Blodgett

This chart shows ten generations of Blodgett and Pierce ancestors starting with Boyd Blodgett.
Because both Boyd's father (Abram) and mother (Jesse - a Pierce) had many siblings, these ancestors
are also the common ancestors of many family members who now attend our annual family reunions.
In fact, because two Blodgett brothers (Abram and Silas) and a sister (Minnie) married two Pierce
sisters (Jesse and Clara) and a brother (Luther Leroy 1st), you can replace Boyd and Julia with any
of these three families children and the chart will still be accurate.

Another interesting aspect of this chart is that it details our direct connection to Capt. Miles Standish.
Aaron Blodgetts wife, Sarah Lilly is a great, great, great granddaughter of Miles Standish. So all the
family lines that are descendants of Aaron and Sarah, are also direct descendants of Miles Standish.
Incidentally, Captain Miles Standish was not actually the Captain of the ship Mayflower, but rather he
was hired by the Mayflower settlers as a military Captain with the responsibility to protect the colony.
The actual Captain of the Mayflower returned to England after dropping off the settlers (for more
about the Mayflower colony and Miles Standish read "Mayflower" by Nathaniel Philbrick).

Ancestral fan chart - Boyd Blodgett

This chart is a good example of the collaborative effort it takes to gather, preserve and present
all this material for our family history. This chart was originally created by Alan Blodgett in
the 1960's from information collected by both him and previous historians over the years.
In the 1980's the chart background was recreated by Luther Blodgett (using then state of the art
CAD software) and then hand lettered by Barbara Vannier. Copies of this chart were then distributed
at a reunion at that time. A couple years ago (about 2010) I sent a copy of this chart to Lisa Pierce
at her request. She recently scanned this chart and sent me back digital copy of that scan.
So now we have high quality digital version on our website that can be viewed and downloaded.
