Grandma's Potato Rolls

This was a Blodgett family favorite made regulary by Julia Blodgett
for holidays and other special occasions

(about age 17)
- Ingredients:
- - 1 yeast Cake
- - 1/2 Cup Lukewarm Water
- - 1 Cup Milk
- - 2/3 Cup Shortening
- - 1/2 Cup Sugar
- - 1 1/2 tsp Salt
- - 1 Cup Mashed Potatos
- - 2 Eggs, beaten
- - Let dough rise until doubled.
- - 6 1/2 to 6 3/4 Cups sifted Flour
- - (enough to make stiff dough)
- Directions:
- - Add lukewarm water to yeast. Scald milk.
- - Mix shortening, sugar, salt, potatos and scalded milk.
- - When cooled, add yeast and beaten eggs (mix well)
- - Add flour (enough to make a stiff dough)
- - Nead dough well on a lightly floured board.
- - Place dough in a greased bowl (large enough to allow for rising)
- - Rub dough with melted shortening.
- - Cover and set in refrigerator (or in a warm place if wanted sooner)
- - Let dough rise until doubled.
- - Make rolls in desired shape.
- - cover again and let rise until doubled again.
- - Bake at 350 degrees.
